fishing tripWhy it’s important to book a fishing trip in advance

It is important to plan your fishing trip well in advance and prepare for it. Here are some reasons why booking ahead is just as important as fishing.

Fishing is more important than working, and we all know that. In an ideal world, 90% of our time would be spent on the water. We can’t fish in amazing destinations and not make some money, so we need to think about our work priorities before booking a long fishing trip.

We have 25 years of experience in the fishing industry and the knowledge to offer you the best experience. We can customize your Myrtle Beach fishing trip to meet your specific needs.

Dates and availability

While some of us were able to work hard enough to be able to set aside dates for work on a whim without having to apply, others are less fortunate. Work holidays are required to be requested at least six months in advance. In other countries, more time is needed for valid holiday leave applications. This phase of planning requires communication with the charter operator.

To ensure that you get a spot on the dates you want, communicate with your charter operator prior to submitting your vacation leave application. It is best to look at dates at least six months to one year in advance. You might not reach your target if you plan less than five months in advance. It is best to plan 12 months in advance so you can organize your fishing trip and make sure it runs smoothly.

Finances/trip Expenses

Although it may seem obvious, you should have enough money saved up to pay your deposit immediately so that you can confirm your spots. Many of my friends have missed out on the chance to secure the “perfect” dates because they couldn’t pay their deposits in time. To confirm a trip with us, a 25% deposit is required. However, deposit rates vary among charter operators. Most charge 50% upfront. When planning your trip, it is important to consider the financial aspects of the trip. Not only will you need to save for the trip, but there will also be travel expenses that you have to pay.

You’ll need to be able to pay for everything, including taxis, excess baggage fees and snacks, so you can make sure your trip is smooth.

You can save time by paying your deposits one year in advance. This will allow you to plan for additional travel expenses, fishing gear, and trip balance.

Flights and accommodation

Booking your flights is the hardest part of any fishing trip. It is important to book your flights correctly, depending on where you want to fish. There are many stories of missed flights due to incorrect flight times. It is important to plan your trip well in advance.

Once you have chosen your dates, you are ready to make your deposits. However, before you send the money in, speak to your preferred travel agency or browse your favorite flight app to see if there are any available flights to the destination. You shouldn’t just look at the price of the flight, but also ensure that you have the available flights for the times and dates your charter operator has requested. Before you enter your credit card information, check the dates and times. To ensure that you have the correct dates and times, you can send a photo of your flight itinerary to your guide/charter operator if possible before you swipe your credit card.

It is hard to stress enough the importance of booking the right flights. However, advanced planning and flight bookings allow you to customize your trip to suit your needs. You want to take a break from the fishing and enjoy a few days of relaxation after completing your long-haul trip. Book your flights in advance.

Waiting List

Do not panic if your preferred dates are already full. Last-minute cancellations are not uncommon. If this happens, you can request to be added to a waiting list. Let your charter operator know that you wish to be added to a waiting list. They will notify you immediately if there is a spot available.

Species Wish List

You should also book ahead for the species you want. You will have the best chance of success if you choose dates that are most likely to capture your species hit list. Different species have their own behavioral patterns. Discuss your goals with your guide and charter operator to get the best dates.

January – April

This is the fishing season for Monster GT and Big Yellowfin Tuna. As we are not in the trade winds season, sea conditions are usually calm. High humidity and day temperatures average around 30 degrees on most days. You can expect sunny days and tropical showers during this period. Although there is always a possibility of a tropical cyclone, plenty of warning is given. It is time to travel for large, massive fish in calm waters.

May – August

Anglers have the opportunity to catch a wide variety of species during this period. Giant Trevally, Yellowfin Tuna and Yellowfin Tuna are all available. The day temperatures range from 26 to 28 degrees on most days with moderate/low humidity. The winter months are marked by the appearance of South East trade winds, which average 10-20 knots and moderate seas. If you want to see more species, it’s worth taking the time to travel.

September – December

Spring is the spawning season. This is when all species are more active and feed more vigorously. There are many species available during spring, including Giant Trevally and Dogtooth Tuna. The December season is when the yellowfin tuna, Mahi Mahi, and sailfish start to grow larger. The day temperatures range from 26-30 degrees on most days with moderate to low humidity. The South East trade winds are more calm between October and December, with moderate to light seas. You will be the first to know about dates and guides.
